Primary Day’s rich and varied curriculum is designed to develop skills, nurture talents, build confidence, and cultivate a love of learning in every child.
A Primary Day education builds a strong foundation in language arts, math, science, social studies, art, and music. Physical education, recess, and a variety of games build a spirit of cooperation and healthy bodies. We help children gain skills and confidence with computers, and as they progress from grade to grade we integrate more advanced computer-based assignments into their schoolwork.
Learning at Primary Day is multifaceted, and sharp lines between subjects often blur. Kindergarteners learn about Mexico, for example, not just by reading books and examining maps, but also by singing Mexican songs, parading in Mexican costumes, creating Mexican art, counting calendar days in Spanish, and treating their young palates at the Mexican Feast.
In all grades, children learn from caring teachers who understand young children every bit as well as they know the subjects they teach. With our 9-to-1 student-teacher ratio, we teach to each child and to the whole child, in small classes that make it possible to give every student the attention he or she needs.
